Pharmacist - Independent Prescriber
I became a Pharmacist because:
I am passionate about ensuring people get the very best treatment, advice and guidance to ensure they can manage their condition and to enjoy the best quality of life available to them.
Brief career history:
I initially studied and graduated in Applied Chemistry at Nottingham. I then spent a number of years working in a laboratory environment. I soon realised that it was not for me. Ever since I was little, I had been brought up in my parents community pharmacy. I missed the interactions with patients and the ability to advise and offer solutions.
I was fortunate enough to be able return to University at JMU and subsequently qualified as a pharmacist, completing my pre-reg at the CO-OP pharmacy in Warrington - the year after my now boss Lynne!! After a number of years working as a pharmacist manager, becoming a district manager, a pre-reg tutor, sitting on LPCs, acting as area pharmacist manager - I felt I was missing something ..… pharmacy.
I joined Ashburton because:
I wanted to return to pharmacy roots, do what I had been trained to do; make sure patients are getting the best out of their medication. whilst being given the opportunity to develop my myself and my clinical skills I could ensure safe and effective prescribing.
I like working for Ashburton because:
I love working for Ashburton as they believed in me. They offer regular training events to improve my knowledge and are always there to guide and support me. They have also supported me in finding a clinical supervisor so I can study to become an independent prescriber. But more than all of that, I feel part of a fantastic team.
