Independent Prescriber and Business Development Lead
I became a Pharmacist because:
Pharmacy is an exciting and rewarding career and has enabled me to develop excellent working relationships with other healthcare professionals and develop various skills such as communication and time management.
Brief career history:
I qualified in 2003 and worked as a community pharmacist for Cohens Chemists. In 2009 I joined the Medicines Management team at Barnsley PCT. After a few years in primary care, I decided to pursue my career further by working for Liverpool CCG and North Staffordshire CCG.
I developed an interest in respiratory disease and did some further training in order to become a Respiratory Specialist Pharmacist and have recently been involved in respiratory projects performing COPD and asthma clinics. My latest project at South Sefton was recently nominated for respiratory service of the year. I recently qualified as a non-medical independent prescriber
I joined Ashburton because:
I joined the company in November 2014 and it was one of the best decisions I have ever made. The work that I am involved with is clinical and patient facing and has enabled me to develop my knowledge and skills further. I have seen the company grow and expand. Ashburton are reputable, successful and driven. I am privileged to be part of their ambition.
I like working for Ashburton because:
They are more like a family than a business, everyone will help each other out as much as we can. The company go out of their way to make you feel welcome and provide excellent training and support. Our team also has a wide mix of skills and experience including a diabetes specialist; respiratory specialist and anti-coagulation specialists.
